Graham and Fran have been in the home renovation business for over 20 years. Previously they owned a very successful kitchen franchise and early in 2015 they separated from the franchise and are now delighted to be able to provide customers with a full renovation experience. When they first relocated to the Gold Coast from country NSW, Fran and Graham had management rights to a high rise in Surfers Paradise, this gave them the intimate understanding of body corporate run buildings and has led to KBHI being the most trusted renovation company for apartment living on the Gold Coast.
Who We Are
KBHI is a small, family owned and operated business with in-house manufacturing and interior design. Most of our staff have worked with us for well over 5 years with a handful having worked here since the beginning. KBHI has built an excellent relationship with a select group of established subcontractors, all of whom work closely with our project managers to ensure that our clients are given superior service and an exceptional finish.
Our team are passionate, creative, thorough, and hard working. We love what we do and want nothing more than to create spaces our clients cannot wait to come home to and to provide an experience that makes you want to renovate all over again.
We cannot neglect to mention our very diligent office manager who keeps us all on our toes by demanding mid work walks and is always there to finish our morning tea. Darcy, the Miniature Chocolate Poodle is Fran’s little sidekick and has a permanent role in the office upstairs by making sure we always look where we’re going or else trip over one of his décor items (his toys). If you visit us and you would like to meet Darcy, please ask as he is always excited to meet our new clients and receive all the pats and attention.

Fran Thornbury
Co-Founder & Operations Manager
For over 25 years, Fran has been the welcoming presence and organisational force ensuring every KBHI project runs beautifully. As a Co-Founder and Operations Manager, she’s built a reputation for nurturing client connections, guiding them through colour choices, and shaping interior plans that truly reflect their vision. Fran’s special touch lies in her genuine ability to connect with people; some of her clients still reach out years later – a true testament to the trust she builds. She’s passionate about understanding each client’s unique story, making the renovation journey feel deeply personal. And yes, her delightful toy poodle, Darcy, occasionally makes a charming appearance, adding to KBHI’s friendly, family feel!
